ChatGPT Can Now Lock Your Chats (FREE) 🔒
ChatGPT can now lock private chats behind a 4-digit PIN, including on the Free plan. OpenAI announced Locked Chats on October 20, 2026, and it's rolling out gradually, so you may not see it yet.
// what it does
- Open the chat's ••• menu → Lock chat → create your 4-digit PIN
- Locked chats move to Projects › Locked chats and are hidden from history, pinned chats and search; Face ID or Touch ID works on supported iPhones
- Resetting a forgotten PIN permanently deletes your locked chats. Locking hides chats; it isn't end-to-end encryption
